I really had no idea what to expect with this one. I own all the previous “mama” games and I enjoyed them all, with Gardening Mama being on the bottom of my list. That one just didn’t seem as fun for me, I didn’t like hunting all over for things, but this review is not for that game! So – I was hesitant that this one may not be as enjoyable as the cooking ones too. And I have to say it’s a lot of fun! I’m also surprised at how many different crafts they have come up with. I haven’t played this game all the way thru, so I am not sure how many there are total. Some are more challenging, and I like that. I noticed also that if you mess up it doesn’t always just stop you or count it as an X. You can continue on and keep trying till you get everything done and still end up with a good score. There also seems to be more color options than before. For instance, making a paper airplane, you get to choose what color paper you want. Other things, you can choose what color candle you want, what color paint you want, what color/type of flower. I think thats a nice little feature that almost makes it more personal. Instead of earning and unlocking items like before, you uncover pieces of pictures that will be in a room for viewing. Thats kinda boring, I would’ve preferred to change up what Mama is wearing. You also unlock other games, and can make a mystery item. I made one mystery item so far, and that also made it available in the regular game play section (a pillow). A few crafts that you can make in this game: A paper airplane, Candles, Earrings, Squirt Gun, Pressed Flower, Pinwheel, Paper Sumo, Ocarina, Deco Sweets, Floral Garland, Needle Felting, Wind Chime, Balloon Art, Bamboo-copter, Boomerang, Cushion, Kaleidoscope, etc.
My son is 5 years old, and he is pretty good at video games for his age, and he enjoys playing this game as well.
I am a 28 year old female, and I think its great. So its definitely good for all ages!

Purchased this for a 12 year old girl who has many other games. She already has Cooking Mama 1 and 2 and likes them. Crafting Mama is similar. She plays often. A good choice for a game without violence!

I’m a huge fan of the Mama games, so of course I purchased this as soon as I could. I didn’t entirely know what to expect, but I knew that it was going to be fun & ultimately, this game succeeded.

You spend a good chunk of the game crafting things such as kaleidoscopes, felt figures, & even xylophones. There’s several different things to craft, a few of which are considered “mystery crafts” since you won’t know what they are until you’re finished or are close to being finished. This was one of my favorite crafts to do, since it was pretty much flying blind & was a bit more challenging. The real gem of the game is that after you finish the crafts, you can play with them. Some of them have little mini-games that you can play, others will change Mama’s appearance, & others will allow you to play music. (The ocarina was a blast to play.) As you craft, you’ll get the chance to piece together pictures of Mama & company, which you can look at later on as much as you want.

Unfortunately, what sort of spoiled the game slightly for me & knocked it down from a 5 star to a 4 star is the level of ease. The earlier Mama games aren’t exactly difficult to play, but they did require some replay & weren’t nearly as easy as this one is. With many of the crafts you’re allowed to keep going despite messing up & errors that might garner you a silver star (or lower) in the previous games will still give you a gold star. This is great for the players who aren’t as coordinated, but for those who are looking for a bit of a challenge will be disappointed. I’ve had this game for less than a week & I breezed right through it & I wasn’t even really spending that much time on it. As such, if you’re looking for something for a younger or less experienced gamer, this will probably be perfect for them.

Luckily as with all Mama games, there is a high level of re-playability as long as you don’t mind doing the same crafts over again or replaying the same mini-games. (Hey, I still replay the previous games even though I’ve beaten them.)
